REQUIRED SAFETY GEAR

A Coast Guard Type III personal floatation device (PFD) and a whistle must be worn during both the paddle and swim sections, and a helmet during the bike section. Also, the swimming section is separated by running sections, so amphibious type shoes are recommended. Helmets must be worn properly before leaving transition area and until crossing finish line.
