Announcing an Open Ocean SWIM CLINIC for various levels every Friday at 6 pm on Sullivans Island Station 29 beach access until the ECOthon. This is an opportunity not just for the experienced swimmers who could use a partner to swim safer, but also designed for those who have never been swimming in the open ocean and would like some guidance to become more comfortable doing so to share in the awesome experience. There will be dedicated safety personnel as well as an experienced swmming instructor, Sarah Mooney (see below), to give pointers and encourage both novice and experienced swimmers.
We are asking for a donation of $10 to go to the beneficiaries of the ECOthon as well as Charleston Waterkeeper who is also helping organize this swim clinic.
Space is limited & registration is required by 3 pm Friday via ECOthon@gmail.com. So if you're interested, even if you can't make it this Friday, please let us know because we are planning to continue if the demand is there.
Sarah Mooney is a CofC graduate student in the Environmental Studies program, is passionate about both the environment and swimming, and teaches swimming to Charlestonians of all ages. A previous lifeguard, an Ironman finisher and veteran of the ECOthon, Sarah swam competitively in college at the Naval Academy. Before moving to Charleston, Sarah spent a summer teaching swim lessons to novices ages 3-65 in San Francisco where she was 'adopted' by a seasoned English Channel swimmer and learned tricks of the trade for open water swimming.

I would like to try an ocean swim, but will be out of town this Friday (9/11). Would be most interested if you have another one.
Would like to do the swim training but travel during weeks? Any chance of doing one on a Saturaday?
